I just read her name so many times on sites like fanfiction.net and I haven't a
clue who she is, so I felt totally left out. I think I have some idea who she is
now! Thank you so much for your help!

Sounds Convincing!
Yeah! I sorta' agree with you that his decision was selfish, and so natural for
an normal guy to keep a girl. I guess that's one of the reasons, he did not push
into the issue when Cagalli took off the ring. She was free of Yuna and near
him, further more he was sure there was no emotional attachment between Cagalli
and Yuna. So he didn't have much worries about her as long as NO ONE tried to
claim her. Lols* I really like to know what'll he do, if another guy steps again
(Hopefully much better than Yuna!). I guess he's gonna say "Cagalli, Let's
get married NOW!"
The other reason he didn't press the matter when Cagalli took off the ring was
because he felt ashamed of himself for putting her in that difficult position.
(Remember that bit where he apologized to her while he was lying in the hospital
bed)
I'm sure Athrun wouldn't like it if any guy, no matter how nice, cool or
good-looking (none of which apply to Jona Roma, by the way) tried to get close
to Cagalli. But he also realised that serious things like marriage (especially
one as complicated as in their case: a Coordinator and a Natural in a difficult
political situation) take time and --cannot be rushed--. Also, Athrun and
Cagalli will need time to patch things up between them, and he is willing to
wait for her. How sweet!
Besides, how could Cagalli fall for anyone but Athrun? He's the world's most
perfect male specimen!
As for the Meyrin issue, I really admire the girl for helping to save Athrun and
getting involved in a very dangerous situation to do so. I think, though, that
if she wants Athrun to fall in love with her, she will have to become a lot
bolder. Athrun needs somebody like Cagalli, who can take charge, yell at him
and/or swear at him, if he wants to do something suicidal.
I agree with you that Athrun should have told Cagalli what was going
on.
I'm sure Athrun regretted not telling Cagalli about the whole ZAFT issue, but by
that time there was no way for him to contact her or Kira. After all, he did not
leave for PLANT with the idea in his head: "I'm gonna go rejoin ZAFT!"
To his defence, he did discuss with her that he wanted to go to PLANT to try and
correct the wrong his father's words had caused.
Since PLANT is way up there in outer space, I think it would be a bit difficult
for him to contact her freely once he was there, plus there's probably a lot of
red tape involved in contacting the leader of a nation. I don't know much about
the Gundam universe's technology, but I don't think it would have been as easy
as just picking up a phone.
The other side to this - why give her an
engagement ring if he's going off to PLANT?
Athrun was afraid of losing her. He was aware of that Jona guy trying to get
Cagalli to marry him, so giving her the ring was Athrun's way of trying to make
sure she knows how strong his feelings are for her. Selfish? Sure, but people do
selfish things when they're desperate to hold on to the things they
love.
Why go off to PLANT at all if he's afraid of
losing Cagalli?
We all saw how it upset Athrun that there were still people who supported his
father's irrational way of thinking. (You can see that Athrun's really upset when
he starts doing suicidal things like trying to set up a Meteor Breaker all by
himself using a damaged Zaku, while the rest of the squad has been called back
so the Minerva can use its cannons.)
To get back to the point, why did he go back to PLANT? To try and fix his
father's mess. In the first season already, his father's decisions have bothered
Athrun, and being the complicated person that he is, Athrun blames himself for
not being able to stop his father from escalating the war (remember ep42 from
Gundam SEED).
So he wants to find a way to erase his father's mistakes.
Wow... talk about a complex character! But that's why I love Athrun so
much!
I'm the most like MEER CAMPBELL,
mainly because I'm obsessed with Athrun, but also because I love to
sing.
I don't have much confidence in my appearance and I'm someone who would thrive
on the attention of adoring fans, but is too shy to attain any of my own...
Just like Meer before she became a Lacus double!
So I also wouldn't mind having a go at playing the idol, like Meer played the
role of Lacus.
He's got a certain prince-like charm that I just can't resist, his manners, his
polite way with girls, the fact that he leaps out of bed with big round eyes
when he finds a girl sleeping next to him... His blush is very pretty too, and
his voice is to die for, and let's not forget that purple ZAFT pilot suit...
Also, I love the way he thinks. He is super serious about everything, and
doesn't like to make mistakes. If he does make a mistake, he beats himself up
over it and doesn't eat his food and he stares into space and he's just so cute
that way.
I'd like to be able to comfort him when he gets himself down in he dumps, and
take care of him and make sure he eats all his food, and sneak up on him when he
is zoning out, dry his tears...
I'm very serious about this, as you can see... ^o^
Maybe she would really like to wear dresses, but just doesn't can't wear them
anymore because she doesn't want people to stare and go
"Onna...no...ko...?" at her. ^_^
I don't think she really hates the dresses themselves, but I think she hates
people's reactions when she is seen in one. You know, those surprised looks on
people's faces and the recurring phrase "She's a girl...!" like it
wasn't obvious.
I've changed my mind about what I want to change in Destiny!
Remember that part where Athrun meets Cagalli, Kira and Miriallia again after
rejoining ZAFT? I want them to kidnap him back to the Archangel whether he wants
to go or not, so Athrun can be with the goodies for a longer part in the
story!
Plus, it would probably make for a great, dramatic showdown between Athrun and
Shinn, if Athrun could have been there to support Kira in that battle where
Shinn fights Kira to avenge Stellar's death.
Athrun and Kira fighting together is just sooooo cooooool!
I blame the great many earth-shattering (quite literally) events that take place
in Destiny. Athrun, after all, only joined ZAFT because he wanted a way to
protect Cagalli, and his other friends. He just could no longer stand there,
stripped of any form of power just because he is a Coordinator and not a
Natural, and watch things fall apart. His true strength was being suppressed
while he was living in Orb, going by a fake name just so no one would know of
the scandal that the head of Orb was romantically involved with the son of
Public Villain Number One.
I agree that Athrun was a little cold towards Cagalli when they met again in
that part of Destiny, but I don't think he was aware of how he came across. His
thoughts are always turned inward, trapped in his own confusion and
uncertainty.
As we have seen in SEED as well, Athrun is not the kind of person who goes
around looking for someone to help him. He doesn't want to burden others with
his pain and tries to solve all his problems by himself.
This part of him has not changed in Destiny.
If anyone, even Cagalli, wanted to know what Athrun was really thinking that
time when they met again, they would have had to drag it out of him, because
Athrun doesn't just open up and talk about his feelings. He keeps them locked
inside his heart. It takes something like him and Kira both nearly getting
killed by Shinn to make Athrun admit what his real reasons were for rejoining
ZAFT.
What I would have loved to see at the end of that scene, though, is Cagalli
spontaneously punching Athrun's lights out and then dragging him back to the
Archangel with her, so Athrun could be part of the good guy team again whether
he thought it was the best way to end the war or not! ^_^
Quote by Lunariha...remember in one
episode of GSD where Lacus's Eternal ship is in a bad situation, Athrun was
badly injured and was in bed...when he saw that Lacus is in trouble he's sooo
persistent in going out to save her despite his
condition.
Teehee! Athrun was being so persistent even though he could hardly sit up,
nevermind save anyone! I remember that! He's so cute when he does things like
that! Athrun is always pushing himself to do things that just isn't within his
power! <3
I also think it's pretty obvious that Athrun has feelings for Lacus. But
Lacus... I just find her super hard to read! That's probably because she's such
a mysterious character.
Quote by ealpha-scorpio
What do you think , Athrun would have done, if he was to decide for Orb's future
along with Cagalli? Would he ever agree Cagalli chose him over his nation?
Never! Even if Cagalli had asked him to help her making her final decision,
Athrun would have never agreed with her chosing him over her nation. (Now this
is not a trash about Athrun, is it?) He WOULD sacrifice himself and personal
feelings for Orb, pertty much as like as what Cagalli did!
I agree.
Athrun is the kind of person who would put everyone else and their grandmother
before himself. I love that about him. It's one of the things that makes him
Athrun!
That's why I don't resent the reality of what happened between him and Cagalli.
It's definitely very sad that they drifted apart, but that's the kind of reality
the two of them have to deal with. They live in two very different worlds, after
all.
I still would have liked to see an episode about Cagalli fighting to keep
Athrun, even if it would not change the fate of their relationship. As you have
said, Athrun would certainly resent Cagalli's choosing him over her
country.
Or maybe I just like the idea of Cagalli clobbering him while yelling: "You
great big idiot!" and the two of them blushing about it later. Athrun will
look cute getting clobbered by Cagalli...
I'd like to pilot that blue Gouf-thing that Athrun hijacked to try and escape
from ZAFT! Better yet, let Athrun pilot it and I'll take the backseat! I wanna
crash into the ocean with Athrun!
Don't be so violent! Shinn can't die! It's true, he acts like a true jerk more
often than not, but just think how depressed Athrun would become if Shinn were
to die. He would blame himself for not being able to protect the little
bastard!
And Lunamaria would cry if Shinn died. We don't want that either, do we?
If I could change one thing? I would make Athrun the sole main character, not
because I have anything against any of the other nice characters, but because
I'm totally obsessed with him! :P
I also thought Athrun and Cagalli make a cute couple, but every now and then I
find myself toying with the notion of coupling Athrun with Meer. She would
smooch him up, of course. But I would love to see him try to fight her off! :3
Quote by xxKurumiNo, because, Athrun and
Cagalli, are, to say, the only really compatible characters for each other. If
you stick Athrun with Meyrin, that's a death trap for Bandai; there are too many
Asucaga loyalists.
But, you have to take both sides' viewpoints.
In a way, Athrun's poor decisions, in how he always converts sides, is for
Cagalli, in some underlying way. He just wants to end the war, and although
fickle, he goes about the best way he thinks of achieving this.
And, Cagalli, well I can't see what she did to not deserve Athrun.
They are too compatible to not be the final outcome, relationship wise.
I totally agree!
Please don't trash Athrun for making bad decisions! He gets himself confused so
easily, because he wants to do everything perfectly right and, since there is no
perfect sollution, he tends to end up thinking in circles.
Besides, let's think about Cagalli's poor decisions as well. She's trying to be
realistic about running her country, but I really wanted her to stand up and
fight for her love for Athrun!
Hmm, that sure would be interesting! ^___^
I just read her name so many times on sites like fanfiction.net and I haven't a clue who she is, so I felt totally left out. I think I have some idea who she is now! Thank you so much for your help!
Whoaaaa, Athrun in a tux! *drooooools* He would look so cool!
Mmm, Athrun + chocolate strawberries = Delicious! *wink wink*
And just thinking about cuddling up to an Athrun wrapped up in a thick, fluffy sweater and scarf, maybe in front of the fire place...? MMMmmm!
I discovered this thread too late!
Happy Birthday, darling Athrun! My gift to you is lots of girls bringing birthday cake!
This is a picture I drew myself! Enjoy!
More Happy Birthday Athrun fun on my website, Wrapped Cabbage - Athrun Fanart Collection!
I would kidnap me Athrun Zala from Gundam SEED! He's so hot!

The opposite of Kira? That's an interesting way of analyzing it! I'll keep that in mind the next time I watch Destiny!
Fate seems to have dealt poor Shinn seems to have been dealt a terrible hand... But, as miyunofire has said, at least he found a nice girlfriend! ^_^
Yes! I agree!
Kira is pretty nice, but Athrun is cute and hot and very sexy!
I agree.

Take Athrun for myself! Because I LOVE him!
